FAQ: Can Patrons Put Collections on Display?

Yes! The library has a display case for patrons who would like to put their collections on display. You can sign up by contacting the Information & Reference Services Desk. We typically display collections for 30 days at a time and have no problem reserving the case for a specific month if you have a special one in mind.

This month we have a display case full of Elvis memoribilia thanks to Illona Lipovsky & Sharon Humes. Click on pictures below for larger versions.

In the past we have had collections of Boy Scout patches, teapots & teapot accessories, leathercraft items, Harry Potter items, Olympic memoribilia, nativity sets and county fair prize winning projects.

Coming up this year we will have a Black History Month display in Febrary and a Holocaust display in September. During Summer Reading (June-August) we use all three display cases to show off the prizes that are available. In September and October we have at least one case filled with Silent Auction items that are donated by our Craft Bazaar vendors.

The staff members take turns filling the other display cases during the year with items related to upcoming programs or other library services. Mystical Marie setup a display of books about Ellis Island to tie in with the Genealogy Class we are offering. Also the display case next to Elvis was arranged by Guybrarian Will to promote our Lego Mindstorms Team. Click on pictures below for larger versions.

If you have a collection you would like to share, call 317.896.9391 and ask for the Reference Desk today.
